Los Puentes Youth Spanish Program 3rd - 5th Grade

The Los Puentes Youth Spanish Program will focus on cultural education through a combination of language learning, food, music, arts and crafts projects, and by partnering with community members from various Latin American nationalities to share about their countries of origin. New this year, classes will be structured around themes (such as family, food, colors, shapes, etc.) and activities will be structured around that learning in order to optimize retention of vocabulary and concepts.

Los Puentes is a ten-week program that meets once a week at the Emporia Arts Center (815 Commercial Street). There are two (2) separate classes, one for Kindergartners-2nd graders, and another for 3rd-5th graders. The two classes will meet on different days of the week. THIS REGISTRATION IS FOR CHILDREN IN GRADES 3RD - 5TH. 

Meet our instructor, Bert Shafer!

Señora Bert taught kindergarten and 1st grade in the USD 253 district for 34 years. For six of those years, she taught in the Spanish dual-language program. She is very passionate about teaching and learning about various cultures and discovering the commonalities we all share through our unique differences and experiences!

Saturday, May 4th (Graduation Ceremony on the main stage of the Cinco de Mayo festival in downtown Emporia. Time TBD.)
