Exchange
Since 2017 we have been immersing ourselves in the Spanish language and culture of Emporia and beyond. Our primary means of doing so is through our language exchange. Typically held once a month, we welcome learners of all abilities to join us for an opportunity to listen, learn, and speak.

Los Puentes
In 2020 we pioneered our first youth program, called Los Puentes (bridges). It was designed to showcase Spanish language and heritage, through connections with the local community. It was a great success!

We now offer the program twice a year, in the Spring and Fall. The program is 10 weeks long and guides students aged Kindergarten - 5th grade on a journey of cultural exploration. The Spring class culminates in the Cinco de Mayo Celebration, while the Fall class concludes with the Día de Muertos Festival. Watch the video below to learn more!
Se Habla Español
Emporia boasts a greater than 30% Latinx population, which equates to nearly 7,000 residents. 3,000 of those who identify as Latinx were not born in the US. The Se Habla Español (Spanish is spoken) program will help individuals better connect, and bridge the gap with, our Spanish-speaking members of the community by teaching functional Spanish phrases most commonly used in business and customer service settings. Individuals interested in enhancing their communication abilities, regardless of the industry they work in, should consider joining us!

Vamos a Explorar
Vamos a Explorar is a program designed to introduce community members to the natural spaces and trails in and around our region. Enjoying time outdoors in the open air has a profoundly positive impact on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. We believe that all people should be aware of, and feel welcomed into our public natural spaces. Be on the lookout for hiking opportunities and social events as we aim to improve the quality of life for all through outdoor exploration! Chips Con Salsa y Más!
One of the best ways to learn about language and culture is through music and dance! Our amazing instructors will teach you Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, y más! We are currently gearing up for our next 5-class program to begin later this Fall in conjunction with Día de Muertos. Check back for more information soon!
