About the event
Se Habla Español is an exciting and collaborative program that brings together the expertise of Emporia Spanish Speakers, Emporia State University, and the Emporia Chamber of Commerce. This innovative initiative is designed to empower local businesses by equipping them with the fundamentals of the Spanish language. By bridging the language gap, the program not only enhances communication but also fosters a more inclusive and culturally sensitive business environment. With the combined efforts of these organizations, Se Habla Español is not just teaching introductory Spanish; it's building bridges of understanding and embracing diversity within the vibrant Emporia community.
This program will be broken into two 6-week blocks beginning Wednesday, January 31st, pausing for the week of Spring break and then resuming on March 20th. The program will end on Wednesday, April 24th. The program will meet each week on Wednesdays at Emporia State University. Classes will take place in room #312 in Plumb Hall unless otherwise specified. (See full schedule below)
Participants will learn Spanish vocabulary and phrases unique to customer service and business settings. Participants will also learn tips and techniques on how to use technology to aid conversations. Employees from nearly any profession can benefit from being able to better connect with our Spanish-speaking community members.

About the instructor - Eunice Sandoval Roman is a distinguished professor of Spanish at Emporia State University, known for her unwavering passion for language and culture. With a deep-rooted commitment to fostering a love for the Spanish language and Hispanic heritage, she has dedicated her academic career to shaping the minds of future generations. Professor Sandoval Roman's expertise extends far beyond the classroom, as she actively engages in community outreach, championing cross-cultural understanding and inclusivity. Her dynamic teaching style, scholarly contributions, and dedication to the Emporia community make her an invaluable asset!
